Cruising the rivers and canals of Burgundy, the Grand Victoria offers a relaxing, scenic view of the countryside vineyards and picturesque châteaux of the Cote d’Or. Enjoy market fresh cuisine prepared by an onboard chef. Tour the many wineries dotting the countryside. See the historic sites in Dijon and Beaune. Recently refurbished, the Grand Victoria is an experience like no other. Luxuriously appointed cabins allow for the ultimate in comfort and a restful night of sleep. An onboard chef prepares fresh meals with local, market-purchased ingredients right on board, and an open bar will keep you satisfied, day and night.

You’ll feel right at home with us as you see the beauty of Burgundy from the water. Kick back, relax, and have a drink on deck as the world floats by. With numerous itineraries, the Hemingway is a bounty of adventures just waiting to be written by you.

Grand Victoria staterooms were crafted to ensure guests are provided with a luxurious sleep experience that includes all the must-haves. Our comfortable cabins are individually air conditioned and feature king sized beds, movie streaming and large screen televisions. A comfortable haven for a good night’s rest or just simply to relax.

For the more active crowd, we offer daily activities that include golfing, cycling, walking, and everything in between. Enjoy cycling along the Burgundy Canal, or perhaps a hot air balloon ride over the rolling hills, viewing châteaux and vineyards from above. Golf and/or wine intensive itineraries are just one of the many available options to you. Maybe even take a World War II jeep through the vineyards before tasting some of the finest wines Burgundy has to offer.

The Queen Victoria is dog-friendly, and will provide a doggy bed for our four-legged guest

Sample Itinerary

Sunday

Paris to Fleurey-sur-Ouche
A Champagne Welcome
Our private driver meets our guests in Paris at hotel of your choice at 2:00 pm or Dijon at 4:00 pm. You will then be chauffeured by minivan to the Hemingway, typically moored in Fleury-sur-Ouche.

Upon arrival you will be greeted by our cheerful crew and experience our Hemingway welcome. While we get you checked in and the crew takes your luggage to your stateroom, you’ll have the chance to sit and relax with our signature champagne welcome. Afterwards there will be plenty of time to unpack and unwind before your first of many incredible dinners on board the Hemingway.

Monday

Fleurey-sur-Ouche - Gissey-sur-Ouche
Wine Tasting at Patriarche
Enjoy a relaxing start to the day as we begin themorning cruise to St. Marie. Guests will have time to relax on deck or enjoy a leisurely bike ride on the bike path as the barge continues the journey into the scenic Valleé de l’Ouche. After lunch, guests will tour the labyrinthine cellars of Patriarche, featuring hundreds of wines in vaults dating to the thirteenth century. The tasting will include eight wines, explained by a sommelier, and a bottle of wine. We return to the barge to enjoy sundowners on the deck or in the bar before dinner aboard. After dinner, enjoy a magnificent tour of Dijon by night before retiring for the evening.

Tuesday

Gissey-sur-Ouche - la Bussière
Market Day with Lunch in Dijon
It’s market day in Dijon. Enjoy breakfast aboard, before embarking on a walking tour along the cobblestoned streets of Dijon with a stop at the vibrant fresh market and famous mustard shop. Afterwards we’ll take a break and relax at one of Dijon’s many charming cafes for a café latte or tea, before starting our guided tour of Dijon’s major landmarks. This includes the DucalPalace, Eglise Notre-Dame and the Cathedral of Saint Benign. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant in Dijon, after which guests will be free to enjoy Dijon’s abundance of shops.

Around 3pm we will return to the Hemingway in time for a happy hour cruise or bike ride before we dock for the evening with dinner aboard.

Wednesday

la Bussière - Pont d’Ouche
Hot Air Balloon, Chateau de Meursault & Vinyl Night.An early start to the morning with coffee, juice, and croissants before embarking on a hot air balloon ride to see the beauty of Burgundy from above. We’ll return to the Hemingway for a scenic brunch cruise. In the afternoon, after a light lunch, we’ll visit the Château de Meursault to enjoy their private art galleries and cavernous cellars, complete with a private wine tasting.

We return in time for our signature Hemingway sundowners aboard. Kick off your shoes and flickthrough a diverse selection of vinyl records from then and now. Turn up the volume of your favorite 45’s for us all to enjoy, while the chef adds the final touches to dinner.

Thursday

Pont d’Ouche - Crugey
Hotel Dieu, with Lunch in Beaune
Enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on a visit to the charming town of Beaune, the wine capital of the Cote d’Or. We start with a tour of the famous Hôtel-Dieu, a well maintained medieval hospital that received patients until the late-20th century. A lunch will be enjoyed in this picturesque town. There will be plenty of time to meander the shopping district and enjoy the enchanting café in the town square, before attending a private wine tasting. Guests will return to Hemingway for an late afternoon cruise. Relax with sundowners and
dinner aboard.

Friday

Crugey - Vandenesse.
Chateauneuf, and Abbaye de la Bussiere
Delight in a relaxing cruise past the spectacular Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, overlooking the Burgundy Canal. After a lunch, we’ll embark on a tour of the chateau, enjoy the magnificent views of the countryside and a stroll around the quaint village, before we visit the beautifully restored authentic 12th century Cistercian abbey, the Abbaye de la Bussiere. The abbey, is nestled in an immense landscaped park and gardens and is today a fine hotel. Finally we will return to the barge for our traditional happy hour and final dinner aboard.

Saturday

Transfer to Paris or Dijon
Champagne Breakfast, Departure
After a leisurely enjoyable breakfast, depart around 9:00 am for transfer by minivan to Dijon or to your Paris hotel, arriving there about midday.
