Le Papillon

Explore the delights of Burgundy

Come to Burgundy and you will step into the past. This region of France is rooted deep in history and legend, carrying us back to the dawn of Western civilization.
Here Caesar came and saw and conquered. Here the Dukes of Burgundy held dominion during the golden Middle Ages.

And here today, in the very heart of France, the Le Papillon cruises the rivers and canals. For the most part the voyages are on the Canal de Bourgogne.

Sometimes they venture afield on the Canal du Nivernais or the River Saône. Now and again they even get as far north as Paris.

Wherever they are, they can choose our moorings together – town, village or open countryside. Then maybe head out in the minibus to a private tasting with a local wine grower or ride a bicycle and explore the countryside. Let them tell you what’s possible so that you can choose. After all, there’s no agenda other than your own. They’ll make sure, however, that you don’t miss any sights that are really special – They want you to grow to love Burgundy as much as I do! Here is a link to the Le Papillon Website

Some special facts about Le Papillon

  • Their food ingredients are almost all bought at markets and in real shops (fishmongers, cheese shops, greengrocers, butchers) – much of it is organic and there’s no budget constraint on the chef who is free to purchase as she wishes and sees fit for the passengers.
  • They buy the wines they serve from the wine growers direct -  Through the owner’s  part ownership of eldenwine.com he has access to some exceptional wines that they” serve on-board.
  • 4-crew for up to 6 passengers.
